I'm thinking of upgrading (who isn't?) but the ASUS site doesn't list the processors my motherboard supports.

Motherboard: ASUS P5K Deluxe/WiFi (Inter p35)
CPU: C2D E6420 2.13Ghz

I am thinking about getting a 45nm chip but I don't know if they are supported.

If they are, would an upgrade to another dual-core chip even make sense? Are the newer wolfdale chips faster clock-for-clock?

I had that mobo, gave it to my dad, and I can happily say that he's running an E8400 with absolutely no problems. It's been well over a year.

And yes, Wolfdale is faster clock for clock. What do you do with the PC?

EDIT: Update your bios to the latest version before swapping procs though.

Thanks for the info!

I mostly game with the computer, with some photoshop editing. Do you think an upgrade would help? Some things are feeling a little sluggish.
