Trouble connecting computer to a multi-media monitor television - using the MM36110 RCA

I wouldn't have asked this question here but I have no other ideas on how to solve my problem..

After seing alot of good reviews I bought the RCA Digital Moniter TV -- MM36110 .

Well I got everything setup and I pluged the svga cable from the tv to the computer and I get several different problems...

I'm using windows xp pro, tried doing it with a ati radeon 8500 and a older nvidia geforce 2 card.

In regular mode, I get a purple picture flickering on and off... UNTIL windows fully boots into the desktop then the picture completly goes blank..

In safe mode, I get the same picture, but I do get the picture still when the desktop loads...

I've tried everything..

Thanks in Advance for any help!!

I have an RCA MM36110 36" HDTV that I've owned for about one year. It has never given me any problems at all, concerning the 15pin SVGA input. I use a GF2 Pro card and have used Win98SE and XP Pro. It gives me a perfect picture, as long as the resolution is set at 800X600 MAX and the refresh rate is set to 60Hz. Do not exceed these settings, or all you'll see is what can only be described as diagonal lines, rolling rapidly across the screen. The monitor is "plug and play" and both operating systems correctly identified it as an RCA monitor and installed the proper driver.

My TV came with two 15pin cables. If you haven't already tried them both, do that. You could hook your computer to a regular monitor, boot to windows, and set the display type to "Plug & Play Monitor".

What do you mean by "purple picture flickering on and off"? Is the display correct right when you turn the computer on? I'm talking about the BIOS identification screen that shows BIOS level and detects IDE devices. If it doesn't show this correctly, I'd say there is something wong with your TV. If it has the same problem when hooked to a regular computer monitor, then I'd say you have a problem with either your vid cards (same problem with 2 vid cards is highly unlikely) or the AGP slot of your motherboard.

Try some of these things and see what happens. Please describe exactly what the monitor shows as soon as you power the computer on. How long have you owned this monitor? Do you have an extended warranty? Maybe you can exchange it (I know it's a bear to move) or maybe the store where you bought it can send out a tech to check the monitor?

Or you could try this: Call 1-877-RCA-HDTV and have your unit's date of purchase and model number ready.
