trouble adding a forum

I used to be able to see a list of subscribed forums in my profile, but I can't find it now. I want to add the software forum.

I have to log out to get to that forum. When I get there and try to reply to a message and I'm asked to log in, I get 'ERROR: Sorry you do not have permissions to access the requested object".

Use above link and deselect Software.

You should see the list down at the bottom of your Personal Options in your Profile.
