It's not easy to tell exactly, but it appears to be close to right over our heads right now and all we are experiencing is a steady light rain. Radar shows the areas of intense rain diffusing before reaching us. No wind to speak of either. Will see as the day goes on.

I’m rooting for Gordon. Based on some of the news coming out of Fla-duh recently, I’d say it’s way overdue for another good douching.

Been a bit moist in Texas the last few days. Prolonged rain events like this feel like tropical depression. Not that the rain was excessive. It was sorely needed for me.

Fingers crossed the levees hold out this time, it's going to be a long night. They’ve got most of the city evacuated and I just hope any holdouts are well stocked because there’s no telling if and when FEMA and the LA National Guard (and Cajun Navy) can begin rescue ops.

This is turning out to be another Katrina
Wasn't Katrina a category 5 hurricane? A tropical storm isn't really in the same league is it? I mean I'm sure it's scary for you and your family and all the people in its path but a little perspective might be in order especially when comparing to one of the most devastating storms ever recorded.

Not to sound harsh but that’s pretty stupid of you, I hope you don’t have kids in there with you. When the storm surge comes the last place you want to be is trapped in a car. Stay safe

Not to worry, they all have life jackets on, including the dog, and I have a cooler full of iced down beer strapped to a tube with a rope from it tied to my leg.

Hope you folks in the New Orleans stay safe. I was in Metairie from Betsy in 1965 to Andrew in 1992.

I lived in Slidell during Andrew. Thankfully in Ruston during Katrina (refugees lives in the dorms though and they had to implode the building after they moved out lol).
