Pretty much right off the bat she started saying she might not have the ticket. Also, the lottery commission said a man bought the ticket. I don't think many people believed her.

I think she played the media like a champ. The proper thing for them to have done was to ignore her after the initial reporting until she was able to show some proof that she actually purchased a ticket. Instead they jumped on the "story" like flies on freshly produced manure and gave her over a week of national publicity.
