So the other night I go to bed after windows auto updated and restarts. I wake up with a notification from Norton Anti Virus (Corporate Edition) saying Real Time protection found a Trojan Horse (plain old trojan horse according to the virus library on Norton) @ C:\etc etc etc\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\wupdate.exe or something (I am using my laptop at home, this virus is on my PC at school) and that a quartitined failed, and cleaning it failed. So i found the file manually and deleted it, although I think it isn't that simple removing the virus.
First few questions:
1- Tomshardware has a news article about a false windows update going around saying it installed SP3 but this doesn't seem to be the one I got because it was XP doing the autoupdate, not me downloading some file manually and I didn't see any SP3 on my computer...
2- Trojan Horse, how does one fix that? Is it one of those viruses where it can steal my information? because then I will be afraid because I use online banking, etc.
Any knowledge on this would be appreciated.
