I assume many of you have -- or have had -- the ABIT IC 7 G motherboard. Is the chip that has a green sticker with IC7 G on it the Southbridge chip? It is about 3/4" square and sits next to the SATA 3 and 4 connectors on the edge of the MB and close to the BIOS chip.

The SB should be the chip labeled Intel that is near the SATA ports. I'm not completely sure what the other chip is but it may be a controller for SATA or something.

MustISO,

Thanks for the reply. Found it and with some difficulty (had to use an intense light source obliquely aimed across the chip) managed to read

Intel
FW82801ER
Sl742

Thanks for the help. I am overclocking and wanted to put Microcool heatsinks on all MOSFETS and the Southbridge. The CPU is cooled with a ThermalTake XP90 and the Northbridge with a Swiftech MCX159-P with a Typhoon fan on it.

Sure appreciate the prompt help.
