Trivial Pursuit arguement

When one person/team reaches the center of the board and has to get a final question, do the other players get to choose the category before or after looking at the question card?

"Once a player does hit the hub, the other players select the category of the game-winning question from the next card in the appropriate box."

Do they select the category before or after looking at the card. This is what I am asking.

i was always under the impression that the opponents pick the question to ask the player.... the player doesn't get a choice in the matter.

i love trivial pursuit... best board game ever.

you spelled "argument" wrong.

if you quoted that accurately then I would interpret it to mean they get to see the questions and select the category from the card.

How is after fair? All people would do is pick the most impossible question, regardless of category.

Before.

But they would be limited to the questions on the next card in the deck. The edition of TP I was playing had very varying levels of difficulty in each category and made it difficult to attack a weakness when there were easy questions in all categories.

that's the point. the opponents pick the hardest question on the card and ask it. that's how i've always played it....

that doesn't mean you look at the questions tho. you choose the catagory then read the question off the next card in the box.

And you've been answered several times...most people, including me and my family and friends, seem to play where the category is selected BEFORE the next card is pulled. The official rules don't specifically say which way is the correct way thereby leaving it open to those playing on how they wish to do it...pick a way and move on.
