Official Rule 7.05 (h), ball thrown from the pitchers plate as a pitch or to catch a baserunner goes into the stands or dugout.

Official Rule 7.05 (i), the pitched ball misses the catcher and lodges onto the umpire's equipment (e.g. facemask).

balk?
how do you balk a batter?

if the pitcher goes to his mouth while on the mound, it's a ball to the batter and counts as a balk. You'd need to have 3 balls on you to take the bag, but I'm pretty sure that goes in the walk department.
