Trivia is no fun when the ones reading the questions don't know what the hell they are talking about

Went and played trivia last night at Buffalo Wildwings. It was not your ordinary NTN trivia, but instead teams were formed and questions were read through a loud speaker. Prizes included free beer, food, gift certificates, etc. Well the moron reading the questions really screwed it up. Below are two examples:

[*]Seal is the capital of what country?

When asked to spell it he spelled out Seoul. Ok dumbass, that is not pronounced like seal.

[*]What was Johnny Depp's character's name in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?

The answer he had was not even close to right and our team lost due to this. An argument started and we were almost thrown out of the place. If you are going to have trivia, make sure you write questions where you know how to pronounce the words and have the right answers.

I did Science Bowl in high school and we'd always have some idiot who didn't know science reading the questions. They'd mangle the pronunciation of everything so we couldn't figure out what the question was...that sucked. They'd pronounce cation like in vacation (should be pronounced cat ion) and they would take a minute to get through some biological classification sounding like a stuttering first grader =/

We weren't the only team pissed about it. Another team got involved and the guy still told us we were wrong. Should have brought the laptop in since they have free wireless. That would have shut up the announcer.;)

i'd be pissed if i paid a fee and got screwed over like that.

Nope no fee, but it becomes very competitive. There were probably 100-150 people playing at the time.
