Hey guys,

I'll be getting a Canon A95 soon for work use and will want a bigger mem card to go with it. I see billions of diff mem cards, most of them dirt cheap. Which ones are the better ones to go with? I know some are rated at different speeds and I'm sure brand makes a difference.

I hear people talk about the Lexar and Sandisk high-speed ones as some of the best. I don't need the best shiznit out there, just taking product pics (laptops, etc) with a tripod. At the same time, no point in buying crappy technology.

Thanks in advance!

edit I've found several cheap tripods on ebay and such that look like they'll suite my needs just fine. However, I can't tell if they work with the A95. One in particular says it has a 3mm standard tripod mount. Is that the "industry standard" size? TIA

Would this tripod be decent?

I've looked at the capacity for a 256MB camera with the A95 on highest settings and it is plenty for my uses. 512MB cost 2-2.5x more, so I can't really justify that. But thanks!
Anyone have any other info?

Thanks for the advice. I won't ever be using lenses on this little A95, so as long as it can hold a few pounds I'm ok. I really just need something to hold the camera steady and be decently tall. I don't forsee travelling with this on a plane, so I don't need something small.

From what I hear, the Sandisk Ultra II cards are the way to go. Can be had cheap too for the 256MB, so I think that is what I will go with.

Stupid idea IMO. I could have bought one 2.0GB card for less than two 1.0GB cards, but was hesitant to put my eggs all in one basket. In theory, if you have two cards and one is lost, stolen, or damaged, you at least have half of your eggs in another basket.

While this might not help you in regards to a tripod for your camera, I have often been called "the human tripod".

WTF? I hate people like that. I was gonna say nice tripod, then I see the s/h "scam" and I'm like, what a dick.

While I agree with you on that, a $25 tripod ain't bad in my book. I just need something ~4-5 feet tall that will stand still. That's it; nothing fancy.
