triplehead2go or 30" lcd?

Hello folks,

I am wondering if anyone can provide insight on which to pick.

This product which allows 3 monitors to be hooked up. it looks to still have limitations but provides a nice 3840x1024 for 19? monitors.

or this product, the dell 3007 wfp which is a 30? monitor at 2560x1600

ie. If you had a choice between either, which would you pick and why? Or is the choice neither and wait until later 😉

If Matrox made a DVI-based triplehead solution, I might consider it for unusual applications, but if I had the money, I'd be much more likely just to get the 30" LCD (or two), since that would be more useful for everyday work.

I don't like multiple screens, I'd definately go for teh 30''

Have you considered a dual monitor setup? 3 x 19? would be the cheap way to go to get a lot of desktop space, but not necessarily the easiest way. You could go with any combination of 20 to 24? LCDs and end up close to if not better than a 30? in terms of work space as well as price. And with dual DVI cards being fairly common, not only would you not need any sort of adapter, you could still have DVI to each monitor.

Some programs want (or even need) to take up the whole monitor, even if the screen is very large. That?s where a multi monitor setup can help out a lot.

The bad part about a multi monitor setup is that it can take some time getting used to it, and learning how to use to its fullest capabilities.

it's only for gaming 😱 I was considering triple monitor as opposed to dual because dual monitor is infeasible for gaming due to the split right down the middle. my rig for "productivity" is actually an old p4 with barely any graphics at all that sits next to my gaming rig. so, in a sense i have a multiple monitor setup now -- hehe.

thanks for the suggestions guys. i am probably going to wait for prices to drop on the 30" and technology to improve on the 3-monitor setup -- probably by the end of the year, i'll buy myself a nice christmas present 🙂

It would be pretty crappy to play games with all those borders, and also through VGA.
