DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – Victory Brewing Company in Chester County is taking ingredients from three of its top-selling beers and incorporating it into a non-alcoholic beer ice cream.
Victory’s ice cream is available only at its pub and retail store in Downingtown for now. There are three verities, including Triple Monkey, a banana ice cream made with peanuts, caramel and an unfermented liquid used to make their Golden Monkey beer.

Matt Krueger created Victory Brewing
Company’s beer ice cream.
Matt Krueger, general manager of Victory’s restaurant and the frozen treat’s creator, says, “There is a byproduct of the brewing process called wort and its residual sugar that you get from mashing grain and hot water. We take this malted extract, which is loaded with complex and simple sugars. It’s a building block for beer, but before it becomes beer we actually harvest some for ourselves and we cook it down.”
It’s turned into syrup and mixed with ice cream batter. The other two flavors are Hopped Up Devil (cinnamon ice cream with the wort of Hop Devil beer, cayenne and chocolate covered coffee beans) and Storm King Crunch (chocolate ice cream with the wort from Storm King Stout and chocolate malted milk balls folded in to the ice cream).
