Triple Monitor Situation

I recently had a triple monitor setup with 3 ASUS VE247H's. Two of the ones I bought recently had horrible colour and so I returned them.
Now that ive had time to think about it, I know for a fact I cant NOT go triple monitors ever again so Im looking to either go with:
3 ips monitors
OR
2 ips and a 120hz.
The dilemma is that I am an avid gamer, I spend 90% of my time on my PC gaming on FPS' (currently BO2 and BF3) with a 7950 that Im sure Ill crossfire. As im in full time education not enough money can be put into my rig at the moment to maintain 120fps at highest settings on new games so is 120hz pointless? Im thinking its a pretty "future-proofed" purchase since I dont think much will be released soon apart from 4k maybe.
Im also not sure if the one 120hz and two IPS' flanking will look weird since ill have two monitors with great colour reproduction and one with not-so-nice-looking colours. Has anyone got a setup like this?

Im bound to crossfire my 7950's soon....

Any thoughts / suggestions?

I was using TN panel and IPS next to each other and frankly it bothered the shit out of me xD

I would much rather have 3 matched IPS monitors and just forgo the 120hz as you said yourself you wont have the horse power for it anyway.

Hmm, was hoping that others didnt have the problem you stated and I thought of. I will be using a BENQ XL2420T which apparently has decent colour reproduction. Do you reckon itd still bother me? Its just that, a 120hz monitor is a one buy thing where as if I ever bought more GPUs id then have to buy a 120hz monitor

I personally think it would because of colour uniformity and back lighting. If you can get similar brightness and similar colour settings it might not be too bad, for me though I just noticed the differences and it bugged me.

I would rather wait for 4k monitors or 2560x1600 monitors to come down in price before worrying about 120hz, but i prefer resolution over fps.

Right. 4K doesnt interest me in the slightest and I prefer FPS to res. Needs to less to drive.
Ill keep looking into this but thanks for the input.
If anyone runs this setup could you include a picture?

Agree 100%. It is hard to get identical model monitors perfectly color matched. Matching across models is damn near impossible.

Yup, at least with 3 identical IPS you shouldnt be able to notice much if any differences (at least nothing big), but with 2 and 1? never gonna happen, unless they are all high end with lots of good calibration settings.
