I am thinkin of runnin 3 monitor setup. All i really do is a lot of web surfing. some gamming and chatting. i used to run twin monitor setup with my matrox g400 dual head and it was cool. but i have a question , i have seen dual monitor pci card on ebay. are any of them good enough quality to try? i have 3 trinitron monitors 19" and wanna know if it is easy to setup?

Argh...i forget the user here who runs a triple setup. Check the Friday Desktop thread for his setup. It's pretty bad ass.

I love my G450DH but I want some more 3D power out of my system. I might eventually get a G450 PCI and run a Radeon 9000 or GF4 Ti4200 on the AGP port.

To answer your question, yes it is possible. I used to run G450 with an ATi 4MB PCI card on a triple monitor setup. It's incredibly easy. Just make sure to boot with the PCI video set as primary for Win2k/XP.

The computer automatically selects the top (closest to the processor) PCI card as the primary display card. However, once you've got all your video cards in and working, you can select a different card as the primary in Win2K (XP too?). The result is that your computer will boot off your top PCI card, and then switch over to the primary card selected in windows after the OS loads.

One of the research areas I was involved with as an undergrad was putting together a multi-to-multi internet bases video conferencing system. Our display machine had three cards in it... two PCI vid cards, and one AGP dual headed card. The dual headed card and one of the PCI cards drove projectors while the third PCI card drove the console display. Pretty sweet stuff.

Hmm.. All my motherboards choose the AGP card as primary unless I change it in the BIOS.

And as you mentioned, the AGP card can be set as primary within Windows.

with dual monitors, it's not like you keep on eye on each one. the more monitors, the more data you can see without having to alt-tab.

Lol....sure I know :) ...I have a G450 myself....but I don't really wanna turn on two monitors at the same time.... too much radiation :)

Edit: But of course, if you have three LCDs...that's another story. :D unfortunately I have only one.

I run three CRT monitors @ 1280x1024. Each monitor has its own dedicated graphics pipe. Then again, it is an SGI Onyx2 with 3 InfiniteReality2 pipes. :)

I am upgrading to two IBM 9 Megapixel monitors & four InfiniteReality4 pipes, real soon now.

I'm running a lousy Single 17" CRT, and its a horrible monitor too.
