Triple & dual channel clarification question

Hi everyone,

Can someone please clarify if you can use 3 sticks of ddr3 in a Amd motherboard and still keep dual channel? I'm reading as long as you have 2 of the same in let's say slot 1 & 3 and another stick in slot 2 it will run in dual, other messages I read say it will run in single channel mode

6GB can run in "asymmetric" dual channel mode. Still dual channel.
