Trim support with older intel chipsets

Does the G31 chipset support trim (ICH7)? I assumed that since the matrix storage utility refuses to install that it doesn't. I already have an X25-M G1 in a Latitude D630 which does support trim, in which case I'd move the SSD to my desktop since it won't matter with a G1 whether trim is available or not, and put a trim-enabled SSD in the D630 at some point.

Is there a utility that can check this explicitly?

Thanks.

G31 should support AHCI, so TRIM should work. You don't want to install Intel's storage drivers, though - they don't support TRIM. If you did an install of 7, you can stick to the MS AHCI drivers that it'll automatically install. Once you switch to intel drivers, TRIM stops working.

Run CrystalDiskInfo and it'll tell you whether or not TRIM commands are being passed down to the drive.
