Trim peeling away - what to use to reaffix?

I've got an '02 Sequoia, and above both the passenger and driver doors, some plastic trim is peeling away form whatever it's affixed to.

It seems to have been put down with a high tack tape of some sort, and while the tape is still a little tacky, if I press and hold it on it, it's pulls back away within a second or two. The trim itself is very thin and seems to have to stretch a bit to apply to the curve it's on.

It's in a very difficult/impossible place to clamp.

Can I somehow reactivate the adhesive on the tape.... or... what else can I use?

It starts to peel away just north of the 'oh shit' handle:

Stays peeled away for 12-18":

The area that looks ribbed is the 'tape' that it should be sticking to:

That's 5.6 mil thick? That's what - the thickness of a really thick garbage bag, right?

So I need to take the whole thing off and reapply? Or should I try to fix it in-place, as I was hoping?
Best to take it all off so you can clean off the old stuff properly.
