trim mpeg2 video?

I need to cut out a certain portion of a 12GB MPEG2 file. I need free software that can trim the video and supports loading of >4 GB files. It also needs to retain the original compression format, or at least output in something that's not humongous (35 GB with VirtualDub uncompressed?!).

One thing about MPEG2 encoders - software that does this needs to have a license with it to do MPEG2 encoding, and licenses cost a little bit of money, so there is not a lot of "official" MPEG2 freeware out there. At least, that's my understanding of it.

Again, you get about a week trial with videoredo then are required to purchase a registration key after that. About $30-50 or so. I use it to cut and paste mpg2 files before burning to DVD. Also is very, very fast. Give it a whirl.
