trillian problem

I recently found Trillian .74 or whichever version that is on a coverCD I had lying around and thought I'd try it out. I liked it. Then I upgraded to Trillian 3.0 Basic, and it's pretty much the same ( as far as what I use it for ), but accesses the internet the whole time, and for me 56k user, that is not good. Is it checking for updates, and can I stop it from accessing the internet the whole time?

In the Installation & Startup tab, does it indicate it's sending usage statistics to Cerulean Studios ?

Otherwise, I can only imagine it to be by design. What kind of bandwidth usage are we talking here though ?

Unless you're doing cam chat or swapping files with it, I'd go back to the older version. The new one uses about 30mb of ram and basically only adds these features.
