Trillian astra

I've wondered the same thing, it's been in Alpha FOREVER it seems. I wish it would at least hit beta. There's no official word as to when it will be ready, I haven't even see an estimate. Almost seems like vapor ware, but the Alpha is semi open so I guess it's legit. They're sure taking their sweet time with it, hope it's as good as it's being made out to be.

I'd love to hear more info too about a release date, even a Q4 2008 or something semi vague.

I've been on the sign up list for Astra for months now, not a word from them. I can test on Windows and Mac OS X....

🙂 Astra rocks. (I use it daily)

It will be done when it's done. As far as I know, it's feature complete as of several months ago - now they're just pounding out bugs. There's an updated build pretty much once a week.

so how's the stability? for an Alpha I would expect it not to be that usable, but if it is I might have to try to get in on the testing

I signed up for the alpha, but have yet to get in. I used to use trillian religiously. I have moved to gaim (because I prefer to have the same apps on windows and linux). However my wife still uses trillian and loves it.

Astra has its share of quirks. One thing I seriously dislike about it compared to Trillian v3 is that the connection icons don't change if you have email waiting.

I really like Pidgin, I loved Trillian for years, Pidgin is a bit more simple but pretty good stuff. I will give Astra a shot when it comes out for sure.
