Trillian - AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, and IRC, all in one.

I haven't had any problems with AOL blocking with Trillian, MyCQ, and MaxxChat. I'm trying both out and they seem OK. No definite winner yet.

Oh, heh, thanks for linking it- I'm used to UBB and vB, they automatically parse URLs.

But yeah, I mostly like it because they're just two regular guys who I know won't try to sell out later on...they're sort of modeling it after LiteStep...plug-ins later on.

I think the first plug-in will be a POP3 mail checker. The skinning routines will be rewritten soon (one or two months) and after that you'll see freeform skins. Right now there are some quality skins in their forum/the skin gallery. I'm torn between the Whistler skin and the Netscape one.

A Luna skin is coming up, as well as a couple designed for high res, that excites me as well. It has a small learning curve but I figured that most of the people here are power users.

It's rather unlikely that AIM could block Trillian, since Trillian uses the same files AIM does to login to their network...
 
Well, Trillian works well, but it also opens up about 10 windows that you can't close without exiting Trillian. Anybody know how to solve this?
 
Please be a bit more specific as to what you mean.

BTW, Trillian remembers window prefs and such. So if you close windows that normally open with startup, it won't open them on the next startup.

The big window is the console, it can be hidden and forced to minimize on start in the preferences.

Most people just use the buddy list and a bunch of detached windows.

The console can have windows attached to it, which limits them to the space in the console.
