trillian is so kewl. incredible space saver. this build appears to be
the most stable of all. my machine has crashed on past versions.
so far so good.

there is also odigo, trillian's main competitor, but trillian brings them
all together much better imho.

another proggy similar to trillian and powered by the creators of
odigo is sympatico instant messaging (sim)

hehe, yeah I talked to myself over the network some... has anyone gotten the filetransfers to play nice with a firewall?

it looks nice. ive never used an "all-in-one messager" because i have way too many contacts on each list to want to put them into one list.

I was just told about this today by a friend. How does it handle ICQ lists. I just had to reload Win2K and haven't reinstalled ICQ yet. I don't want to lose my contact lists and history. Does Trillian import them or do I have to got thru the lousy member addition process?

You can import your icq 2000b database(*.idx) files and you're good to go.

If you're running 2001 choose one of .clb files in C: \Program Files\ICQ\Contact List

I used Trillian .65 for a few days, but got tired of it's interface attempting to make me use IRC all of the time, and other generally irritating things.

With .70, I love it! I can finally replace AIM. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, as I would have probably never visited their site again.

I have no clue what your talking about spazntwich1m,

Trillian has never tried to force me to use IRC. you must have had it in "advanced" mode.. where it showed the big window with all the options for IRC. cause in standard mode.. it was just the contact list as it is now...

P.S. I urge anyone who uses trillian and thinks its great and worth it to donate a few bucks to the developers.. they have done a great job and worked long and hard and they deserve the support of the IM communities!!

Trillian .7 is great... Even the transparency option works well :)

For those with rule-sets and/or firewalls....

AOL AIM:
64.12.0.0 ~ 64.12.255.255 :5190
205.188.0.0 ~ 205.188.255.255 :5190

MSN:
Port :1863

Yahoo Messenger:
Port :5050

I don't remember the network range for MSN or Yahoo. If needed, I will look those up and post back (I only remember the AOL/ICQ IP's by heart).

Also, allow :80 to each service depending on your needs....

FYI: My "handle" for all the services is docdoo99 :)

would you recommend trillian even for someone like myself with huge AIM and ICQ contact lists? i would not want to collapse the lists. cuz my ICQ list is quite long and i cant even imagine what it would be like adding my AIM list to it.

DocDoo:

I would be interested in that. I'm not sure why you have the IPs specified. Is that your IP range and AOL's range? I have a broadband router. Would it work to use the special applications section to forward 5190 on a 5190 trigger for AIM for example?

BTW, Trillian Kicks Arse!!!! Love the new .70! Profile aware and everything.

Edit: I just tried it... doesn't work. Even when the other person does the same. Hmm.... anybody have a clue how to do it?

what is transparancy mode? when you're logged on and the rest of your contact list sees you as logged off?

Has anyone had freezing problems with it. Thi smorning, for the second time, I woke up and found my PC locked up tight with the Webshots screen saver image stuck. Ctrl=Alt-Del and punding the keyboard does nothing and this is Win2K! The only thing I can think of is that I set it Global Away when turning in, but can't remember if I had left it on the first time. Is it me or what?
