Just bought a MSI 8800GT OC (the one with the nice heatpipes)

My logic behind this was the fact that

A) Just like my 7800GT it will last me until the second generation of 9800's once all this hype and what not has cleared (or lack thereof).

B) Its performance parallels many more expensive models, or at least follows them close enough that the price/performance ratio is too hard to resist any longer.

C) Unlike many models at its pricepoint it has dual slot cooling, and a nice one to boot!

D) MSI while not having a lifetime warranty still has a decent warranty which covers easily as long as I plan on owning this card (2-3 years)

E) As far as resale value goes it does not possess the XfX double warranty but it does however come with the knowledge that it has been well cooled (and everyone knows that heat is the killer) so that will perhaps allow me to extend its life and resell well one day.

Now the waiting game!! I'll update on my thoughts about it once it arrives!

Newegg as they are tried and true.

Plus I know how reliable and quick they ship.

And Yes, I know that Chiefvalue is a sister company;)

Neat man.

I just replaced my x1900 gt with a 3870. Newegg's shipping is the freaking best.

Of course, the day before that speedy shipping of Newegg's delivered it to my door, my 24" Soyo died.

I've got an MSI 8800gt oc in my cart right now at newegg but im thinking of ditching it and just getting a 9600 GT. I'm using an E4300 c2d chip @ 3.2 ghz and am thinking for 30 bucks less, I can get a relatively comparable card to the 8800gt that runs much cooler and will still kill pretty much any game I play and play crysis fine as well. Also have the 4gb of ADATA ram for $62.99 after rebate in my cart and will be using Vista.

Thoughts?

It is a pretty nice card. Either way you go I'm sure you will be happy. Personally the aftermarket cooler on it makes the difference for me. I will tell you how I like it when I get it but so far its supposed to be amazing.

As for the 9600GT I'd say go for it. Maybe even get an XfX for the resale value.

Yes, I understand the loyality. I'm too much of a penny pincher on everything to get a dollar get away...hehe! :D

As long as you got a "good deal" and are happy, it's all that matters! :)

Get that MSI 8800gt with the heatpipe cooler... It's silent, cool and amazingly fast.
When you have that, plus with it being slightly faster still, to me it's a no-brainer. :)

I went from an x1950xt to the 8800gt and the difference was pretty significant.

I just pulled the trigger also.

going from a 7600GT to an MSI 8800GT
and 2 gb of ram to 4
and winxp pro to vista home premium 64..

Does that RDP hack for vista home premium still work?
