Be careful when running bitcoin because those cards will be pulling lots from the slots. PSU 24pin plugs have burned up because of that. I'd buy a board that has an Aux molex to supply extra power to the PCI-E slots.

It looks like the WS Revolution has an auxiliary 4-pin molex next to the 24-pin plug. Are the 24-pin plugs getting burned out because of the constant load?

This can happen on some boards with 3 powerful video cards, but I thought it was resolved. If the board has an additional power plug that will eliminate the problem. Alternately this will also work

What?! Wow its gone up considerably since I was looking at building a setup. Just a month or two ago it was sitting at $5 and the outlook was pretty grim. At $12.5 it becomes a lot more tempting. I'd still be a little concerned though about ASICs coming online, a lot of the big players were investing in them. I know the 7970 has the best hash rate but what is the best energy efficient card. Also what are these Jalepenos? Are they fPGA chips? $150 sounds reasonable what is their hash rate?

They are still ASICs just a less powerful units.

It's supposed to hash about 3.5GH/sec, which is insane for $163. Problem is the June Jalapeno pre-orders for October shipments are all filled. That means there are still July and August pre-orders to be filled. I am guessing at least a 1.5-2 months wait. Those probably won't be filled until Dec-Jan. That means if you wanted a GPU, you still have enough time to mine with a 7950/7970 and then when it fails around October, decide later if you want to get Butterflylabs units. The window for GPU mining is closing soon. It's now or never imo. I might add a 2nd 7970 to pay for itself before it's all over for GPU mining. Another 2 months left is still enough to pay for almost half of it.

Hey do you happen to know if you pre-order a Jalapeno now how long before you actually receive it?

No, I don't know. You may want to email Butterfly labs directly with that question. I am guessing since all the June preorders are fullilling October delivery, July preorders --> Nov, August --> Dec. So if you order now, expect 60 days +.
