Last night i went to install windows 8 on my living room pc. It was working fine until then.

I started the install process, chose the partition, and once it started to install i walked away from about 30 mins, and expected to come back to it waiting for me. Now all i get when i turn the pc on is this screen:

The Intel AHCI controller is hanging while trying to detect a drive. I know it's a PITA but shutdown, disconnect the drive/s so you can get back into BIOS, and temporarily change from AHCI to IDE mode to see if it'll boot normally. Also, when you say it "was" working fine what OS was installed before? And can you post your drive/s and partitioning scheme?

Just 2 drives. One older wd raptor as the os drive, and one 500gb drive for storage. Also i had 2 external hard drives connected via usb. Was running Windows 7.

God i hate this p180 case right now. Worst case to work in ever.

Ok now I'm looking at this:
9QDUDC4o

I just realized that the dvd drive is ide. Should i disable ahci? What about sata port0-1?

And I'm tempted to just try it again with the same settings, I'm guessing it will probably work for some reason.

I also noticed that my oc went away. Weird. The last time that happened was because i had legacy usb storage enabled.
