Now I'm wide awake at 12 AM with a full day of work ahead

this happened a few days ago too. I couldn't go to sleep until 5 AM
I was falling asleep at the desk

Any way to fall asleep within the next hour?

My clock is programmed to have me fall asleep at 1:30-2, wake up at 6:30 or so.

Every fucking day. I can't go to sleep any earlier, and I certainly can't sleep in. Even when I have nothing to do until the next afternoon, I'm up by 7 at the latest.

this, except instead of a math textbook replace it with some philosophical book like The Prince

I just took melatonin, valarian root and ZMA. Probably overdose, but I'm all fucked up on sleep. Hopefully I crash before 1am.

Yeah, I learned this years ago. The only way i can move up my sleep time is to get way less sleep the night before. Otherwise, just trying to sleep early ends in EPIC FAIL.

Similar situation here. I went to bed at 10:00pm only to wake up at 11:45pm, wide awake. My apartment was getting too hot so I opened up all the windows (two rooms) and the sliding glass door to the balcony. Then I peeled some apples and made some applesauce. The warm applesauce feels good in my belly.

Bad Idea. It is very difficult to fall asleep immediatly after exercising. If you are going the exercise route to fall asleep, it needs to be done at least and hour or two before you plan on going to bed.

As others have said, warm rooms make it much harder to fall alseep. Open a window and cool the place down.

If you try to force yourself to go to bed earlier than normal, or if you arent tired, it probably end in fail. If you don't have a regular sleep schedule, gradually get yourself onto one.

Alcohol makes it much more difficult to sleep. (unless you drink so much you pass out, in which case you just get useless drunk sleep and will be hungover and just as tired the next day).

benaydryl, unisom.. works great

I personally like doxylamine succinate(anti histamine in nyquil/unisom).
One of these are like 3 diphenhydramines.. very strong. It leaves a nasty hangover though

ZMA?

ZMA is a patented mineral formula containing 30mg of zinc and 450mg of magnesium along with 11mg of vitamin B6

It's supposed to help promote muscle growth, but a side effect is heavy sleep
