I'm just sayin'... It's more for the wienies that get their panties in a bunch over smoking, but will shove bacon in their mouths, and chase it down with some well smoked pit beef. I don't care, and fully expect to die some day, so I'm gonna enjoy my time while I'm here ;^)

No, a true wienie is somebody who equates nitrites with smoking. The carcinogenic risk of nitrates and nitrites is specious at best and the only study that established the link got ripped apart under peer review. Yet idiots still cite is as if it's gospel. If, and that's a BIG if at this point, this is a true health risk from eating nitrites and nitrates it's so small that science can't definitively establish it even exists while the risk of smoking is clear. So the "wienies" who have a problem with smoking while eating bacon and smoked beef without a care in the world actually understand the risks quite clearly and have every right to eschew one while partaking in the other.

Are you into that Soylent stuff? Because apparently that sends you farting for weeks once you start working your way through that goo.

Too many allergens right now. They're working on getting more & more out tho (I think the 1.4 formula outed gluten or soy or something).

Allergies aside, I've pretty much got an iron stomach at this point & will try anything...I've done vegan, fruitarian, paleo, the works. And, you know, spam ;)

I see you've clearly linked your posts with studies backing up your point. That kept me busy reading for ten seconds at least. Very thorough...

also, I'm starting to doubt the veracity of your Treet hunt. :hmm:

For years, the ATOTers have said I'd lied about how much I make, what I drive, what I own, what I eat, etc., when I always back up what I said whenever possible.

Today is no exception:

oh, that's a shame. You really should get back on gluten, then. You know that it is less than 1% of the population that actually have a legitimate problem with gluten, right?

There is no real medical data that distinguishes "gluten effect" from placebo....

There is this restaurant by crackpots, for crackpots that just opened here (Berkeley, of course), that is 100% gluten free, with special fans and filters to extract and trap all of the "free-roaming gluten" from the outside environment, no one is allowed to carry any bread into the store, you can't have touched any bread in the last day...etc etc. it goes on. I understand a restaurant for special needs service for people that have a legit condition...but who thinks it is a good idea to open a restaurant that really only serves less than 1% of people in the world?

These are legit wackadoos. (of course, the property was previously a dingy Chinese takeout shop for the last ~decades--so not even filters crafted by Thor himself will ever remove the gluten from this horrible place)

You'd love it, I guess. :D

The last several times I've been to Berkeley, we always ate at Saturn. Vegan 50's style diner ftw!

I've been pretty impressed with some of the vegan stuff I've eaten at restaurants. If 100% of my food tasted like that all the time, I could definitely switch. I've been doing a bit more raw vegan dishes on & off and they are actually some of the most flavorful food I've had, stuff like walnut meat tacos with eggless chipotle mayo in lettuce wraps...it was like everything had natural MSG in it

I worked in a deli in high school and (thankfully) we only occasionally carried head cheese. Slicing it on the machine would leave a greasy white film over everything and the smell of it would nearly make me puke.

I grew up being fed this stuff. Covered in breadcrumbs and salt and deep fried. I'll never go within a mile it.

I grew up on it also. Love the stuff, although nowadays I pretty much limit my intake to spam fried rice occasionally.
