I used to just slice it and put it between two toasted bagels.

I'm pretty lazy when I make my own food.

It's ok every so often. People think it is some sort of mystery meat but it is actually just pork shoulder.

When driving cross country, I actually visited the SPAM Museum in MN. Bought a hat and tshirt when I was there though they also had a whole variety of different kinds of SPAM for sale.

They love spam in South Korea.

They even sell gift wrapped spam for Chuseok, and Christmas.

I'm happy they sell Spam singles now, that's usually enough Spam for me. I eat them once or twice per year.

Ok, so what does it taste like?

If I like pork sausage, fried bologna, and waffles house will I like spam?

Treet's the ghetto version of Spam. Think about the implications that! :^D

Kind of like ham, but not exactly. Think sausage patty mouth feel, with a ham flavor. Given your list of likes, you should love it.

Do they make hormone free, nitrate and meat by-product free spam?

Horomones I don't know.

Nirate fear is dumb, unless you think eating celery and spinach is harmful for you because they contains tons of nitrates.

Meat byproduct fear is dumb. It fully depends on your definition of byproduct. Is chopped up pork shoulder a byproduct of meat processing? And nothing about meat byproducts is unsafe, it just sounds/looks icky.

two thin slices of spam on bread with yellow mustard, fritos on the side and a Dr. Pepper used to be my favorite brown bag lunch.

It's edible out of the can, but the texture isn't my favorite - I prefer frying it since it makes the outside crispy. Got a bunch of recipes to try...shredded like tuna for spam salad sandwiches, as a ham slice for breakfast sandwiches, etc.

Taste is kind of like deli ham, but with way more salt and a more meaty flavor. It's actually quite good!

Nitrites turn into nitrosamines under heat, which are carcinogenic. That's not a "studies kind of lead to this conclusion" thing. It's a fact.
