Tried putting thermal paste on my laptop cpu and now it won't boot!

Alright, well my dell inspiron 1100 laptop has been overheating badly for quite a while now and I got tired of it so I opened it up and looked at it. While trying to see if there was any thermal paste on the cpu, I tried getting it off of the heatsink(it was stuck to it) and the chip popped off and fell onto the laptop, bending a few pins. I tried bending the pins back into place and putting it back into the socket but now the machine will not boot AT ALL. Won't post, won't do anything. Am I totally screwed?

I would think so. The fact you tried to put anything on it should void the warranty. It probably would have worked except for the fact that pins were bent.
