Tried installing AVG Antivirus, now can't uninstall in Vista

I tried installing AVG antivirus 7.4xx instead of downloading 7.5. During the install, vista crapped out, rebooted, and told me that it wouldn't work (and didn't give a solution). Now I can't download anything, and I get an error telling me that avg is not designed to run on windows, or that it has an error. When I try to uninstall it, a dos window comes up, and disappears quickly but does nothing. How can I force delete the antivirus from Vista?

Use System Restore. Start > type System Restore in the Search box.

Also, if I may make a suggestion, then if it's 32-bit Vista, use AntiVir. Go into Configuration, enable Expert Mode, then go through all the settings panels and max out heuristics, enable scanning of all files, and enable all the optional threat categories. My testing and other antivirus tests indicate that AntiVir's detection rate is considerably better than AVG.
