Looks like the old card can actually overclock a little bit even with its original driver still being used.
Result: 780MHz GPU, 935MHz memory with the fan set at 31% (above that it gets too noisy, meaning noticeable). Idle temp is 53C but my apartment is very warm.
I haven't felt the need to overclock as I play only Oblivion but I may leave it there for a while. Will upgrade when Skyrim hits the shelves if needed.
