Tried as Adults

It pisses me off when kids are tried as adults. It shouldent even be a dam question: THEY ARE NOT ADULTS.

But wait this is America.

If you want to be adult enough to die for your country 18 is ok.
If you want to have a little fun and drink a little 21.
If you want to go fishing then 16 is adult enough to pay for it.

You ever look at the crimes that these kids who are "tried as adults" commit?

As suggested previously by another member, stop posting, resume lurking until your dose of Stupid wears off.

That's why I think 18 should be the magic age for everything.

You turn 18, you can drink (outside of the home, when with family, you're allowed drink for meals, etc)
You turn 18, you can smoke.
You turn 18, you can purchase recreational drugs (because in my perfect world, they'd be legal)
You turn 18, you can drive (unless you have a job - If you have a job, you can get a permit at 16)
You turn 18, you can vote.
You turn 18, you can die for your country.

Am I missing anything?

So what did you get busted for?

If you commit a minor crime at 17 and 11 months you will still be tried as a kid.

If you commit murder etc. at 17 you can and should be facing harsher penalties.

I agree. These days, 10 year olds are killing other humans. Should he be tried as an adult, hell yes. If you can make the decision to kill someone, critically hurt them, or otherwise cause a lot of harm, you should face your actions. Juvenile Hall is not enough, you're let out at 18.

I'm 19 actually. But thats not the point.

I guess the "adult" age for killing people is like 15 then.

should be lower, kids have a state of mind by 11.....and hopefully have morals, but why are they killing people then, actions have concequences, they know that from growing up(unless they never did)

But if they have the state of mind as an "adult" then they should have all the liberties of beeing an adult, not just the consequences.

They don't have the "mind of an adult" - where the hell do people get that idea? It doesn't take the mind of a grown person to know that killing is wrong. Hell, chimpanzees know that.

Replace that with 16, and I think we'd have a winner. Don't kid yourself, I'm 17 and I know exactly what I'm doing. But of course, I have a full time job and a high school degree, yet I can't even withdraw money from my own account until I'm 18 due to government laws about contracts. Pisses me off.

Yes you are completely bluring the lines of "Age" and "Morals". A kid will be tried as a kid if it is a harmless stupid childish act. But if a child commits murder, rape, violent felony's like that, they should be tried as an adult because as a human you are still expected to respect your fellow man and know not to harm another.

it doesn't take a 21 year old to drink responsibly either

I'm currently there actually, and i just rearanged.

I'm not saying its right to kill, but if they are going to have diff boundries as when to try a person as an adult then it should be definate.

Canada >> j00 😀

I'd like to think that kids were taught the moral Do's and Don'ts that would cover most felonies ... you know, like "Killing = bad, stealing = bad, rape = bad, Grand Theft Auto = bad" ... then again there's a lot of stupid people who've managed to avoid natural selection.
