Tricky Shuttle HOT-565 TX mobo question

Hi all, I have a tricky question regarding the HOT-565 MOBO in one of my older boxes. I have 64 megs of PC-100 SDRAM in the box now, and I have an extra 64MB lying around that I was thinking of adding to the box. However this is a mobo with the intel TX chipset, and 512K L2 cache. I read somewhere once that this setup will only cache the first 64 MB of memory. Given these facts, will increasing the memory to 128MB be of any value?? Thanks.

I have a 569 (which is one step above the 565), I put an additional 64MB, the computer boot showing 76MB of memory, (should be 128MB).

I took it out. End of story.

It slows performance maybe 2%, but if you open large files that can occupy that much RAM, reading the data from 2% slower RAM is a hell of a lot faster than reading from a really slow hard drive, and every hard drive is really slow compared to even the slowest RAM.

So, if you work with large files, add the RAM. If you don't, don't.
