Tricky Itunes problem

So, I've got myself an itunes issue.

When I try and start itunes, I ask it to run, itunes.exe shows up in my task manager, and then it takes on the order of 3 minutes before itunes actually starts ... MUCH too long IMHO. Ive tried reinstalling, ive tried going back to itunes6 ("upgraded" to 7) and I really dont know what to do. It however has been making my computer stutter just a bit during the 3 "Phantom minutes" One of my friends says that what it feels like is the PC equivalent to a prebinding issue on a mac ... something I have NO idea how to manipulate. I've been looking around online and seen people with a similar issue but as of yet no solution and thought I would try my luck with the kind people of anandtech. Thanks.

Have you tried uninstalling everything and installing it again? Make sure you clean out all the associated registry keys and leftover files before reinstalling. Of course I'm assuming that this didn't happen on iTunes 6

I have tried uninstalling itunes and deleting any remaining folders, I have not tried playing around in the registry.
