Tricks to get UPS to leave pkg w/o signature?

The lady at UPS says they won't leave a pkg that needs a sig even if you write a nice note. Does anybody have any suggestions, tips, tricks to get the guy to leave the pkg?
 
ask your sender to specify to leave package at your door, neighbor, etc. Keep in mind that if your package is stolen, you're outa luck.
 
its weird how some people complain about UPS leaving packages when there not home, and others compain about UPS NOT leaving packages.
 
Both UPS and Fedex leave the packages on my side porch, very convenient. I think its from years of me placing notes on my front door saying "if no one answers please leave package on side porch, it would be greatly appreciated."

UPS left packages on my doorstep without signature all the dam time. Including a 1200 laptop. Stupid morons.
 
I guess it depends on the neigborhood! I think it's stupid when they think they are "hiding" a 1 foot box by covering it with the doormat!
 
Your best bet if they won't leave it is to get a neighbor to sign for it. THey'll do that. I don't understand about the signature thing. Sometimes I have to sign. Others, they just leave it.

A little story: Once, I ordered a monitor and I was a couple of doors down from my house in my friend's garage talking to him. I see the UPS truck pull up to my house. So I go running up to the driver on the sidewalk and tell him that it's my monitor. He hands it to me and drives off. Then I stood there thinking, "I could've been ANYONE and he would've handed my monitor to them!" :Q
 
I was driving home once to see if my pkg was at my doorstep. No, i got a yellow slip. But I had seen the UPS guy, so I drove back to find him, parked behind his truck, went up to him, told him he had my package, he asked for my name and gave me the pkg. I was pleased!
 
I have a enclosed front porch and have signed statement with Fed Ex and they leave them hidden under a chair for me. I also have a good friend that works at UPS so they do the same. What kills me is that USPS leaves them right on the step 6 feet from the side walk and I don't live in the greatest area its not that bad but there are theives and alot of people that walk by my house all the time. You would think they would be smart enough to open the storm door and put it in the porch at least..

I get 2 or 3 UPS deliveries a week and I'm not always here to sign for them. To resolve the problem I asked my regular UPS driver for a supply of delivery notices. (The yellow notice they leave when you're not there.)

I usually know which day a package is expected. If I'm not going to be home I sign a delivery notice and tape it on my front door. (With instructions on where to leave the package.)

That way the UPS driver is covered and I get my packages without delays.
 
Here are the rules for the drivers, I used to be a driver

1.In certain areas they cannot deliver a package without a signature. These areas include highcrime areas, business districs,and city areas.

2. The Shipper has the option to demand a signature for delivery, if they dont demand a signature then the driver can "drop" it on your doorstep, yes this include monitors. There is an unofficial rule that no computers can be delivered without a signature, but if a driver knows his area well he will leave it there sometimes.

3.If the driver feels it safe he can let a neighbor sign for the package, this again is a judgement for the driver.

4.Even in the areas from #1 if the driver knows the area well and feels safe about leaving a package he will

If you have a regular driver try and get to know him a bit, it will make a differance in your service, give him some cookies or something 😉
 
thats sounds right Barrak, of course it is if you used to work there = ), i send all my packages "home-home" and not to my school Apt cause i ALWAYS get the package on time at my house, i'm in one of those "safe" leave on doorstep areas...
 
I know exactly when I'm getting the pkg because it is UPS overnight. But I don't see how signing their yellow slip is any different then me leaving a signed letter pleading them to leave the pkg. I guess I will just have to cross my fingers.
 
There's some sort of "lock box" that's sold specifically for this purpose. I remember seeing in discussed in this forum, but don't remember the details.
 
They always leave stuff at my door. I live in the middle of nowhere so it is not a problem. I remember one time (not sure if it was UPS or someone else) they left the boxes IN A CAR! They put a note on the door that said look in the car. I could not believe it!
