Xenomorph_pl on our forums has posted a tweak that seems to be improving direct3d windows 2000 performance for the Radeon (might work for other cards too).
Here's how to do it if you are brave enough or won't fret over anything major.
1. Install DX8 and DX8a
2. Download d3dim700.dll.
3. Copy d3dim700.dll to c:\winnt\system32\dllcache and c:\winnt\system32
4. Windows 2000 should try to recover this file
5. Press cancel and do not any recovery
6. Restart windows
7. Try 3dmark2000 (for example high polygon count)
8. Try UT with new D3DDrv.dll
this was taken right off rage3d's site so the credit goes to them!
