I have never really given this game much thought and really never heard about it till a friend said something to the point of it being one of the best games to play.

he was boasting that it has multi player...and that you can be on the same team and use vehicles and one can drive and the other shoot and so on and so on.....is this for real ?? and how good of a game is it ???

just curious to hear what you think about the game and some of the ups and downs of it.

thanks for your replys in advance

The gameplay is awesome....

But let me qualify that some....With my p 450, geforce2MX the game is playable, but I'm really not happy with the performance. I would think a 800mhz+ with GF2 GTS or Pro or better would be best.

It did have problems with bugs at release, but is getting better and better in that respect.
Some people still have problems getting it to run though.

But overall the game is great.
common game is 16 vs 16 people, but it can be more or less. I've seen some games with upto 80+ people, but they are not modem/Slow system friendly =)

thanks for the info, but what is the game play like ??? something to compare it too, I havebeen playing CS and UT alot is it something like that ???

come one help a brotha out 😛

thanks

It's alot more like UT than CS. Think of UT CTF with vehicles, classes and HUGE maps and you have a pretty good idea of what Tribes2 is.

Yup, I'm a big UT fan. It takes a lot more practice to get used to playing this game. There's just so any options and so much information that affects gameplay. However, you can just stick to the basics and play the game and enjoy it. I guess once you've got the basics down, you can start exploring with all of the other gameplay features available. I haven't played this game on-line yet, but I'm sure it would be a real blast. This is what I consider "real" multi-player gaming when it comes to a shooter/strategy game.😉

BTW, I've got a Duron 600@800/MX 2/384 RAM, and this thing runs pretty good in LAN games with bots, but I do experience some lag when the action gets heavy.

Its an incredible game thats even managed to drag me from Counterstrike. Think of what Team Fortress 2 is always claiming to be, and then add in incredible outside maps, great weapon and class balance, and fast netcode. The only real problems I have with the game were the bugs, and the often times jerky community. But if you can get some good people to play with, preferably on a private server, this game is an incredible blast that'll only get better. But you do need quite a machine to really play it, let alone have any eye-candy on

It's a first person shooter like UT except it's mostly outdoor in huge maps and you have jetpacks also. There's planes, ground vehicles, water, huge teams. It's all good.

But if you've never played Tribes 1 it will seem confusing and difficult at first but it's not hard to learn.

I too have been lured away from CS by Tribes 2.

It's essentially like UT CTF, but with huge outdoor maps and MUCH more variability as far as weapons and teamplay go.

You have your choice of weapons and armor (heavier armor means less mobility, but can carry some of the badazz weapons). You have your own personal Buck Rogers jetpack so can fly around for a few seconds at a time...this adds a third dimension to firefights that is hard to learn, but really fun.

Vehicles!! Some fly, some are driven, most carry more than one player (ie- one guy steering, others manning the onboard guns or bombsight)

You can take command of gun turrets on your base, place remote sensors, blow up the enemy base's power generators, repair yourself, others, items, etc. The list of options is huge.

Game has a steep learning curve at first, but stick with it...

Good review of this game HERE

You do need horsepower to make the game run and look good tho, I have a P3 933 w/ GF2 Pro and still get some occasional stuttering with many models onscreen at once.

I reccomend you download "Starseige Tribes"Demo(Tribes1)It will give you a good idea of what to expect as far as shooting weapons, using your jet pack,flying,etc..

Tribes2 is a much better looking game & much more system demanding than Tribes 1 so make sure your video card & cpu are up to the task.Tribes 1 is a multiplayer so you must be online to play with other players.Tribes2 has the option to play with bots offline.Enjoy
