While there are pick up matches on public servers, I prefer to play more formal matches in OGL competition. These are scheduled team matches of 10 on 10 on a closed server. 3 maps are picked a head of time, with the 3rd only played in the event of a tie. Teams in the top 50 ALL use some form of voice communication, like TeamSound or RogerWilco. They also have weekly practices, and highly co-ordinated strategies. You can Download a playable demo version which will let you play on cetain demo servers, but be sure to also grab a demo of an OGL match so you can watch how more formal games are played.
