Awesomeness...everyone send me a PM that's interested. I'm thinking tribe name something like "Deus" :D

Anyway, awesome, didn't think that many people still played.

BTW, in your PM, give me your Character's Alias in the game. I'll send you a TMail.

I never did try Tribes 2. Is it similar to TFC? I'm hooked on that right now. :p

Basically it's a Team-based multiplayer game that involved team coordination and strategy to be effective. When orginally released, i twas VERY buggy and didn't get the attention it could have. Now, a few hundred patches later, it's a much better game overall and is starting to gain momentum again. You can even pick up the game for a mere $10 at most retailers. Worth checking out. ;)

Reason for starting a tribe is cause most people don't seem to be interested in a strongly integrated team of players. Everyone just kinda does their own thing. And most practices that other Tribes run is just CTF (Capture the Flag) rounds over and over again with no real strategy. I can do that in any random server.

.....so....you know you want it!

Not really. Tribes is capture the flag (has other modes too, but CTF is the most fun) with driveable multi-person vehicles, three different classes, multiple options for your armor/weapons "loadout", many options for base defense, etc. It's really a very well-rounded game that was sunk by a too-early (read: buggier than the Congo) release. It also has a fairly steep learning curve since you have a rocket pack on your back that has a limited burn time.....if you get the hang of it, you can really cruise around a map, but it can be super-frustrating if you screw up and get stuck in a ravine or something and get blasted to bits while waiting for the thing to recharge.

Review at FS.

Official site at Sierra.

I'd be glad to be in it if anyone starts one. I have not played it in a few months but I played it a good year for hours everyday before I reinstalled Windows and never wanted to install Tribes because I hate spending 30 minutes patching it.

Actually the newest monster patch took about 10 min to d/l from Sierra's servers. They've put it on some monster bandwidth. I nuked my original install completely, reinstalled and applied the big patch. 20 min from start to finish and everything works fine.

How will it run on an AMD @ 1.4ghz, Radeon 7500?

I have a 1.6 Athy with a GeForce 4MX and 512Mb PC2100 @ stock clockspeed and it runs BEAUTIFULLY with all graphics settings maxed out. It's a lean game and doesn't require a powerhouse to run.

Hmm, I though about this last time I thought about installing Tribes 2 but the patch said something to the extent that it updates everything from 1.xxx to the current and not 1.0 on up to the current. I have a membership at GS so the patch shouldn't be too much trouble to get (e.g. fileplanet). I will try this in a few minutes. Oh yeah, I remember I downloaded the patch from GS a month ago and the zipped file had a CRC error. I emailed them about it and assumably they repacked it. I will try this tonight.

Btw guys, my name is Mr. Staples on T2. I have always just played and did whatever needed to be done and never really worked as a strategical team before.

Edit: Yay, it worked. No more incremental patches where the first few crash the program.
