Hi - I've trialing Firefox since it promises to give me more control when content and advertising are mixed on the page.

But I'm having trouble with this site http://www.tf1.fr/

I'd like to watch the streaming content (french news) but haven't had any success so far. I believe the
streaming content is .asf
The the link on the site is:

LC1 LIVE Le JT: 13H ou 20h

(13H is the one oclock news and 20h the 8 oclock news)

Anyone got any ideas?

They only take into account Netscape and Internet Explorer...Any other browser and you are out of luck unless you spoof the user agent.

edit: their javascript browser detection has:
if(netscape)
//check version
else if(ie)
//check version
else
//you're fvcked

It does work once you get to the right page though.

but I don't have sound for some reason

Yep it works in IE.

trek - interesting, tried you link..it works and I have sound.

So what's going on here - their script doesn't detect netscape or ie then just stops?

Spoofing, now that sounds like something to do with headers. I was going to ask if there's a simple way of doing this but its all becoming a bit complicated...still don't want to let goof Firefox just yet.

This site has always been a ah heck to extract the valuable content (my partner uses it in her french studies) from agressive ads. Once used something called proximitron (I think) as a proxy inbetween server to filter things out, but that caused other problems.

Theres a firefox extension for changing the user agent here, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

Once you've installed it, theres a new menu item, Tools > User Agent Switcher.

Maybe you will have better luck.

Thanks. Tried it, but no luck. It does seem to get a little further along the line to displaying the .asf stream but, not quite. Looks like I might be sticking with IE to view this sites content.
