Four teenagers who allegedly plotted to shoot two McClatchy High School girls have been ordered to stand trial, and remain held in custody at Sacramento's juvenile hall.
During a juvenile court proceeding Thursday morning, Judge Jane Ure set a trial date of June 14 for the teens, all of whom are 15-years-old or younger. One of the students, a girl, was allegedly part of an on-going fight between two groups of girls that began in March.
On April 26, they allegedly were heading to school with a handgun, extra ammunition and pictures of two female students. During a truancy check at the Light Rail station on Freeport Boulevard and 4th Avenue, a Sacramento sheriff's deputy found the items. A 15-year-old was carrying the gun with extra bullets in his pocket, investigators said. A 14-year-old was allegedly carrying pictures of the two girls being targeted.
All four face charges of conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon. Two defendants are students from McClatchy. One student is from John Still Middle School, the fourth is from Martin Luther King Elementary.
