Just got the rig up and running this weekend.

Niiiiice setup!

Ignore the haters; they apparently don't know what a VRAM wall means, or complain that it doesn't apply to them because of the games/resolutions they play at. Who cares? YOUR games at YOUR resolution run MUCH faster and that's what matters.

OP's resolution is twice as demanding as regular eye-infinity 5760 x 1080. VRAM (and raw power) is definitely a major limiter for 2GB cards.

Show me some proof that it has better scaling, 6950 already scales close to 100% in many tests just like 7970. It would take a massive increase(in most cases not possible even in theory) in scaling to jump from 50% faster to 100% faster. Even if it scales better it is on the order of 10% not 30%-50%.

As a proof:
perfrel_2560.gif

although there is not 6970CF on the graph we can use 6990 instead for comparison. 6970to6990 has 50% scaling, 7970CF has a tad over that, but 6970CF is a little bit faster than 6990 so scaling is very similar.

He isn't using 2cards, he is using 3cards.

Also the average is made out by different games, some don't scale at all, some are cpu limited and some are driver limited.
Try looking at the individual benchmarks of 3fire 7970 and you'll see that in some games the speedboost is >double that of a trifire 6950. in some crossfire is faster than tri fire and in some there is a performance disadvantage. But that doesn't mean that the user can't have games where it does in fact double the performance.

You said that 7970 scales better in 2-way as well as 3-way setup, I showed you that it does not scale better in CF, now you're ale deflecting that trifire is somehow different, if so show me some benchmarks, because I'm not seeing any meaningful improvement in CF scaling. I said that 7970 might be 2 times faster than 6950 in some specific benchmarks(heavy tessellation, CIV5), so we're not disagreeing on that one, but overall we're looking at 50% improvement, nowhere near 2-3times faster.

Just let it go guys, this really isn't the place to be getting into this kind of an argument

3 7970s is NOT even 2x better than 3 6970s... my 3 6970s @ 950 core stock memory get around 14k Pscore in 3dmark 11, 2 7970s get around 13k stock. If anything my 3 6970s is even with 2 7970s @ stock, so an additional 7970 would make it at best 50% faster.

Wow does your face melt when you stick your head between the 3 30"s? :)

Great setup I can only dream to afford!

Just wait until the 7990 shows up.

You can have four GPUs with the superior cooling configuration that 3 cards can provide.

I thought about it I have done 4gpu setups in the past with the dual gpu per card setups.
They tipically take 6 more months to come out.
I saw all the fun people were having with the 7970 and I could not wait.

Dayumm!!!
BTW, if you still run out of VRAM, you could get three of the FirePro card that's based off of the 7970. (Whenever it comes out)
Those should have 6-12GB of VRAM each.

One of the cleanest and nicest looking builds i've seen. More pics, full system too.

Your desk setup doesn't look that appealing to me. The kb+m are right ontop of the monitors. Is that desk a work in progress, how far back from the screens are you?

More images ADDED as requested..
Very nice! Excellent work all around.

Your SWTOR gains are extremely impressive. I'm actually running the game with 4x super sampling AA on my 3007WFP-HC; the 7970 plays very well with the game.

Amazing setup!

I really think the bezels would bother the F out of me though. I wish some one would just say screw it and make a game that only runs on a single monitor on $1500 worth of video cards.
