Tri-band cell phones.

FYI: T-Mobile tends to be a fairly good service provider if you travel significantly (I live in USA, travel to Europe and Asia) due their parent Deutch Telecom. Unfornately they don't have a very good phone selection in the USA - perhaps this is the issue you ran into. Personally, I am getting a Treo 650 (which T-Mobile does not have) and unlocking it and using my T-Mobile sim card from my current phone.
