I'm looking for some Adirondack chairs, and I'm considering Trex (or some other good quality plastic/polywood) instead of wood so that it doesn't have to be painted or stained/waterproofed every year or two.

Anyone have them and have an opinion for or against?
Or a brand other than Trex that I should consider?

I don't like the Adirondack-style chairs. With my fubar'd back, they're just not comfortable.

However, Trex or one of the other plastic chairs SHOULD be fine since you're obviously too fucking lazy to properly care for your lawn furniture...:p

My wife bought a set of them several years ago...before the summer was over, I had them sold in a yard sale for about 20 cents on the dollar.

It's true. I have a hard enough time properly caring for my lawn...nevermind lawn furniture.

On top of that, Polywood is 99 or 100% recycled plastic, so I'm helping the green initiatives.

Can't say as I blame you for that...I'm doing very good if I mow my lawn every two weeks...:p

Could be a problem using if left in the sun.
The artificial decking gets hotter than plain wood.

Thanks, I didn't even think of that. We would be getting white, so that would probably help....but I don't know how much.

I'm trying to find a local reseller so that I can go sit in these things instead of just ordering online and hoping they're comfortable. There's a couple of places near me listed as resellers, but they don't have retail stores with assembled chairs...they just have a warehouse.

My parents have a couple from L.L.Bean that are also made from plastic, recycled milk cartons I think. They are comfortable, pretty easy to clean as well.

I don't blame you for not feeling like you have the time to spend taking 'care' of your outdoor furniture every farking year. I've thought of making deck furniture out of Trex or the 100% plastic equivalent. I just need to take time to make the damned furniture. Go for it!

Trex gets hot as fvck.

Indeed. I ended up ordering some outdoor furniture made out of Polywood (recycled milk cartons), which doesn't get hot the same way that Trex does. I got 4 adirondack chairs and an outdoor bar w/ 3 stools.

I'm happy I ordered early (1st week in Apr), because apparently there isn't a whole lot of this furniture already manufactured and available. Keeping my fingers crossed that mine is shipped this week.

Who the hell actually sits in those things? They are the most uncomfortable chairs ever. Everyone around here has them and they seem to just put them in their front yard as decoration. I've never actually seen anyone sit in them.
