So I have been thinking about getting a PDA/Phone combo to keep track of homework and all my meetings and stuff (and not have to carry a pda and phone in my pockets). I went into Sprint today to see what they had, and found out Nextel is now going to be installing Windows on all their devices! You have the option of getting PalmOS or Windows. This is a glorious day indead.

The only downside is they wont be out till March :(

Verizon already has it...the Treo 700w, and i believe they have a 6 month exclusive. There should be a new Treo coming out for sprint in march apparently, but its not going to have windows (either palm OS or some are even speculating Linux)

its just like any other PDA phone running WM5. The one big problem with it is the 240x240 screen size, which is nto standard. Alot of applications will not run properly on it since the standard is 320x240.

I have the PPC-6700 w/ Sprint and love it. I would highly recommend it!

the one coming out in april will be the treo 700p for sprint, verizon already has the 700w.

700p - obviously palm 320x320 screen otherwise the same as the 700w
700w - obviously windows 240x240 screen

sprint data rates are lower, verizon expect to pay ~$80 a month for both voice and data minimum. Although I hear you can cancel after the first month.

Neither support wifi out of the box.

Dang, didn't know that about the screen, is it a noticable difference?

i went to go and pick up the treo 700 from verizon last week. the sales manager told me that the 700 is not worth the extra money over the 650. but if i had to have the 700, wait a few months till all the bugs get worked out... by that time the price might also drop.

:)

the 700 is worth it over the 650 just for the EV-DO service.

EV-DO?

its the ever-broadening 'broadband' service... faster connection speeds

I believe that the 700w is actually a little behind in capabilities to the 650.

The one in April may even things up. Wait for it.

Check the hardcore Treo sites to be sure.

Does the 700p support EVDO. For verizon is that 80 dollars unlimited?, sprint charges 80 bucks for unlimited EVDO.

So 80 bucks for lots of min and unlimited EVDO is good.

Between this and your orginal post I think it would be best if you stuck to a Zack Morris phone.

sprint does not charge $80 for unlimited EV-DO...they charge $15. The $80 is if you are tethering your phone to your computer (so esentially your computer has unlimited EV-DO). If you only use EV-DO on your phone, it is $15/month.

My plan is $30/month, for 500 minutes, unlimited N&W, and unlimited data. Search for SERO on anandtech, if you want some info on the plan I Have.
