Currently, I'm using the 6700. However, its big, bulky and battery life isn't that great. Its also beat up pretty badly.

I have the option to get one of these phones from work:
Treo 700wx
Motorola Q

I heard that the Q has crappy battery life, and a lot of bugs. However, i also heard that the newer revisions had this issue fixed.

I also understand that the q uses smart phone os, and that the treo uses ppc.

Does the motorola q allow you to run any apps as the ppc OS? does it run any slower?

I need something to use with a data plan for e-mails, bluetooth (as a modem for my laptop), and to run different apps on it as well.

What do you recommend?

What are your experiences with each?

I've had both - I ran a Treo 700wx for two months, before selling it to a friend and getting a Q - which last me 25 days before I returned it.

Honestly, the Q was slow, and there are some issue with it - but you mention the PPC6700, but you want a 700wx? The 700wx is almost as thick and much bigger ... you might want to think about that again.

Also, PPC software cannot run on WM SmartPhone - you have to find specific software. I found it much easier to get software for the 700wx (which is also hard because of the 240x240 screen.)

Downsides are no wifi and some apps wont run on the Treo's square screen, and not all apps will work on smartphone os on the Q. Personally, Id stick with the 6700. Upgrading the ROM will give you better battery life and better response. Im running WM6 on mine right now, it so much better than stock. Check out ppcgeeks or howardforums for info on how to upgrade your 6700 rom.

Yah, that's probably what I'd suggest doing - probably your best bet.

I'm not sure about the treo but the Motorola Q has been out for quite a while. Plus Motorola is new to the PDA game.

Treo FTW

the new moto Q has WM6. It was updated with more RAM as well. The processor inside is still the same.

Between the two of those, I'd get the Q. Palm OS feels prehistoric. I had a Palm TX...sold it. Bought a Palm 680, and returned it a day later.

The 700wx is a WM5 based smartphone.
