treo 650 or blackberry???

curious how the bb speed is on a treo 650 or Blackberry. i'd mainly like to use it for messaging, checkin email, check forums, placing a bid if i need to, getting directions etc. but i'd like to know how the speed is.

it'd just be nice to have an all-in-one device. instead of having a phone and a pda.

Give me some feedback people. So far I just got one person suggesting a Treo. No feedback on speed, reliability, ease of use, etc.

Mine isnt slow . We use them at work , when my Boss pm's me its pdq . Compared to the rim.s they replaced, they are very fast , and have very good coverage.

Why not a Treo? In my opinion, they look better, feel better to hold, and seem to run apps faster. Treo is compatible to more devices and computers due to palmOS.

haha it comes w/ a crappy camera as well (well, 650 has a better one does it?)

still crapy as are most cameras on phones....but the 650 gives ya bluetooth and a much nicer screen.

If you're getting a device for personal use, get one of the devices recommended here...their email clients suck, but most personal users won't notice.

The new blackberries are fantastic. The difference between the Treo and the Blackberry is going to be 1. Speed, and 2. WHere you use it. If you are in a big city, you are going to get better coverage with the blackberry....because a lot of customers depend upon it. Blackberries are also compatible with TMOBILE and so are the Treo's. I like Blackberries personally because of their push technology...if you are receiving time sensitive data, you will get it quicker. Treo's are nice, but Blackberries are just as compatibile now.

I can't believe you guys are saying a Treo is better than a Blackberry, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. The Blackberry is so far superior its ridiculous. Everything waldo said it true. The interface is much more user friendly and made specifically for what you will use for, and does it great.

As I said originally, I've never used a BB so I can't say the treo is better, but all I saw waldo talk about speed and coverage...yet the coverage would be the same for both devices. If you've ever seen a palm OS they are extremely user friendly and the 650 has EDGE.

Push technology is not exclusive to bb. Its depends on whether your provider supports. With sprint the messaging serivice is almost instantaneous.

Just be aware that web browsing on a blackberry is EXTREMELY slow & rudimentary.

A quick google search for text info (such as froogle prices) or map/direction sites are about all it's good for. You won't be logging in to AT or anything like that.

Also I'm not 100% sure how it works without a supporting BES, I've only used them with a full enterprise server + mobile data.

I have the Treo 650 and i like it a lot but can't compare it to a Blackberry. I think for web browsing and searching and maps its good especially if you already have several mobile websites bookmark for easy browsing.

When it comes to email the built in versamail application is an ok application but not so great. You would need a third party application if you want more options for automatic pulling down of email and other stuff.
