Imma just leave this here

Trent Reznor's revived incarnation of Nine Inch Nails have signed to Columbia Records and will release a new album later this year.
Reznor's other project, How to Destroy Angels, is also signed to Columbia.
In a press release, Reznor said, "I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately. For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”
The revived band is heading out on tour starting this summer. As reported, the touring NIN lineup will include Reznor, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as previous NIN collaborators Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin.
Nine Inch Nails:
07-26 Niigata, Japan - Fuji Rocks Festival
07-28 Ansan, South Korea - Ansan Valley Festival
08-02-04 Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza
08-09-11 San Francisco, CA - Outside Lands
08-15 Hasselt, Belgium - Pukkelpop
08-16 Biddinghuizen, Holland - Lowlands Festival
08-18 Hockenheim, Germany - Rock 'n' Heim
08-21 Belfast, Northern Ireland - Belsonic Festival
08-23 Leeds, England - Leeds Festival
08-24 Paris, France - Rock en Seine
08-25 Reading, England - Reading Festival
08-28 Milan, Italy - Mediolanum Forum
08-31-09-1 Philadelphia, PA - Made in America Festival
10-25-27 Asheville, NC - Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit

He's a dick for going with Columbia. I wonder why he didn't self publish?

his quoted story is he was playing a show in Austria or someshit and he went to a record store. He found "Radiohead" but couldn't find "NIN". Blamed himself and his inability to market worldwide.

well good, at least there's a reason for it.

boom

Reznor boiled the decision down to a night in Prague during Nine Inch Nails' last tour, in 2009. “We're playing that night in Prague, but I see flyers up for Radiohead, who’s playing the same place we’re playing, six months from then," Reznor recalls. "Then I walk into the record shop, and there isn’t a section that says Nine Inch Nails." He said he realized that his Twitter account allows for "preaching to that choir of people," but at the loss of a chance to cross over in an increasingly fragmented media environment. (Interestingly, Reznor's Radiohead encounter happened two years after Thom Yorke and Co. famously self-released In Rainbows.)

Reznor went on to frame the decision as a matter of costs and benefits. He said that while he enjoyed being able to post songs for fans without leaks, and post them as soon as they were finished, he had decided he might want to hire someone to handle marketing aspects — such as, for instance, contacting the cool record shop and the cool music blog in Prague. "It was, one, to have a team of people who are better at that [marketing] than I am, worldwide ... that felt like it was worth slicing the pie up monetarily," he said. "So far it's been pleasantly pleasant."

But Columbia?! :^D

There's gotta be a better way to do it. He sold me Ghosts, and it turns out I don't especially like NIN. I liked the mellow approach he took with Ghosts, and I wouldn't have known about it or tried it if it were released on a big label. I downloaded The Slip after that, but I'm not crazy about that album.

If it were me, I'd have self produced, and paid a marketer to get interest going in my tour cities and beyond. More work, but it allows a finer touch wit the marketing, and you have more freedom than you do with a big label.

I downloaded Ghosts... I didn't like it, so I didn't donate any money to him.

I guess that freeloaders like me are why he went back to a major record label.

He made a ton on Ghosts due to novelty of buying it online. Now that is not a big deal, back to a label.

Smart guy.

He should just slit his wrist, seriously if NIN doesn't have name recognition overseas by now they are hopeless. I think it's more a case of they are known, just no one cares.

I only really know of Reznor, but did he disband just to basically kick the other people out or something?

On album it's a 1.5 man show (Reznor + Atticus Ross). On tour it's Reznor + whoever he calls/is available

He's got the same drummer/guitarist as last time, same guy on synth as his 2009 tour, but a new bassist and 2nd guitarist. Only people not around are Josh Freese (who know's what's up with this guy, maybe Weezer pays all the bills) and JMJ (too busy with Producing probably).

I know they are coming to Nashville it just hasn't been officially announced yet. I think only festival dates have been announced thus far (and have been out there for quite awhile already).

Can't wait. Been listening to Year Zero and With Teeth quite a bit lately and am really looking forward to what direction he decides to take on the next album. I'll be really interested to see how they incorporate what they've learned from doing film scores into a rock album. Maybe more like The Fragile?

That could happen but it would have to be the 2014 Bonnaroo. I'm expecting a late October date based on what I'm hearing. Should be either just before the Asheville, NC festival or in between that one and the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans.

Where is the hate coming from? He decided to create a new album after being inspired with soundtracks and working with his wife for the band How to Destroy Angels (are they a band?). And even if he is a sellout, why do you care? I love a lot of Nine Inch Nails music but that does not mean i will give Trent my first born baby.

Either way i am excited although this new album needs to be better than The Slip, which only had one good song, and Year Zero which was crap. I love everything up to With Teeth but I did not see them in concert as many times as the OP.

I loved NIN albums that were released on 5.1 DVD's but with dualdisc a dead format I guess Pretty Hate Machine and The Fragile will never get the 5.1 treatment. At least I have Downward Spiral and With Teeth in 5.1.

working with his wife for the band How to Destroy Angels (are they a band?).

yes, full fledged band with 4 perm. members, and a ridiculously awesome live show. HTDA live @ Coachella = O_O

If Rez says "and frankly, its fucking great" then it has to be good.

He is pretty honest about how he feels and has said before when some of his stuff is crap.

I'll be first in line to buy it

What did he describe as crap from his body of work?
