We are in the process of buying one now.

Does anyone own one, just wanted to know what you thought.

The wife and I have been to 4 TrendWest presentations at their Vancouver, WA location.

Each time we sit through a 90 minute presentation, then they REALLY try to hard sell you, say no about 1000000 times then you walk out with a free vacation (air/hotel included).

I would have considered getting one but $8,000 for a 2 week timeshare PLUS you have to pay maintenance fees is BS.

Rossman how long has it beem since your last visit at a Trendwest presentation? We just went to one last month and the cheapest one they had was $9500 for the 6000pt program and like $10500 for the 7000pt.

Now the prices went up to $1.60 per point.

They didn't press us too hard. They did tell us that the deal was off if we left so we so we did.

Our most recent visit to TrendWest was last year when we flew to Las Vegas with air/hotel for free (plus tax) :)

I wanna say the $8,000 offer was for less than 6000 points, unfortunately I can't remember since we were not interested.

You guys did the right thing in walking out. I'm sure you could find a better time share offer elsewhere such as eBay.com

Hmmn some of those prices look really good, gotta check it out.

Your kill'n me, we got ours for $1.05 a pt plus 16000pts banked and another 8000 coming in november, so it's not bad.

Looks like some good deal on ebay though.

Personally I was impressed by the presentation but put off by the now or never tactics, and the 12.99% interest rate was a killer.

I agree, they're very good at what they do.

The properties look impressive and their sales pitch is top notch but high pressure which turns me off.

My parents just bought a week at a Marriott timeshare on the ocean. It was a private sale for $7500 for the last week in july which is a nice time of year here. The going rate was about $15,000 direct. It is a two bedroom with kitchen and living room. One ocean looking balcony. The second floor units have two balconies and go for about the same price, but most of the owners are going on 10 years there and have no intention of selling.

You pay the $7500 once and get the deed then $6xx per year maintence. For that time period per week the Marriot Hotel next door they usually stayed at wants $299 per night ocean view. So for my parents the time share is more economical (they go there every year for at least a week).

Now the power of this time share comes from it's the highest rated one Marriott sells so my parents can trade for a week any where a Marriott / Affilitate is....and in most places their one week is worth two weeks due to the 'value' theirs has.

Not all timeshares are created equal, and you have to be able to go in order for it to be economical. My parents vacation about 1 month a year or more.

We went to a Marriot presentation and we were offered a package like that for $11500 but the salesman was a shmuck. Marriott rooms are expensice a lot of them go for $400 and more.

Marriott had some good and bad points you could use their points towards airlines and cruises, but there seemed to be a lot of loop holes, too much for my pea brain to handle. When we spoke to a private time share sales person she told us the best bang for the buck was Trendwest.

But to add to your point the best way to buy this stuff is from a private party, or even a time share resale office but NOT from those presentations.
